Four Weeks of Developing Therapeutic Repertoire on Native American Flute

Four Saturdays: January 23, 30, February 6, and 13, 1:00pm – 3:00pm EST

Develop your Native American flute (NAF) repertoire for MHTP’s conditions of patients, explore modes and other scales on the flute, and learn practical suggestions of CMP work and the NAF.

Join Ami Sarasvati, CMP, for four two-hour interactive webinars via Zoom videoconference, supported by four two-hour weekly assignments, interaction with other students and individualized feedback from the instructor.

CMPs earn 15 continue education units (CEUs) for completing this series.

Prerequisites: You must be an MHTP student or graduate. You must already have a solid foundation in playing the Native American flute. If you do not already know how to play the NAF, you can learn through Ami’s online course➚ and/or private lessons online with her. (The learning course and private lessons are not included in the webinar tuition.)

Each week’s workshop lasts for two hours. Participants are assigned two additional hours of at-home work.

Some of the topics Ami will cover in this webinar:

  • Discussion of therapeutic effects of flutes in different keys

  • Flute music resources to build your repertoire for each category of music

  • Sheet music handouts

  • Patient conditions’ types of music applied to NAF

  • Which modes fit the NAF

  • Using modes and other scales to increase variety in your repertoire

  • Using different tablatures to capture music you like to play on your NAF

  • Tips on how to carry and clean your flute in hospital settings

  • Q&A sessions

  • Individualized review of your recorded homework assignments

This is an integrated experience, with each week’s session building on those that came before.  Workshops are not offered separately.

Your instructor is Ami Sarasvati, CMP, a life-long musician of multiple instruments. She learned the Native American flute to bring back the joy of having a freeing and relaxing experience when playing. She is the author of a widely-acclaimed book, Learn to Play the Native American Style Flute, has taught Native American flute classes, workshops, online lessons and flute, and is a drums and rattle circle facilitator. Ami also is a Certified Aromatherapist, Reiki Master, Yoga Instructor and Tai Chi Chih Instructor.

Important notices you agree to:

  1. Webinar registration form and payment must be received by MHTP at least 7 days prior to the first workshop.

  2. I must participate in the webinar discussion.

  3. I will set up a free Zoom account for the webinar (Facilitator will send instructions).

  4. I must complete the class evaluation form at the end of the webinar to receive the take-home information.

Cancellation: If MHTP cancels this webinar because of too few participants or any other reason, all participants will be notified via email and will receive a full refund ($150). If a participant must cancel, that participant should immediately notify MHTP. If a participant cancels more than one week in advance of the first workshop, a full refund will be given. If a participant cancels less than one week in advance (after 1:00pm EST January 16), no refund will be given, because last-minute cancellations could make the number of participants too small for a webinar to be viable.

This series is only available for MHTP students and CMPs. NO REFUND WILL BE GIVEN IF YOU ARE NOT AN MHTP STUDENT OR CMP.
